In the gallery of mem'ries there are pictures bright and fair, and I find that dear old Butler is the brightest one that's there. Alma mater, how we love thee, with a love that ne'er shall fade, and we feel we owe a debt to thee that never can be paid.

Subject: hi mom!

hi mom! how're you doing? i'm pretty good .... a little cold, but it definitely could be worse. i dont know if i told you or not, but maybe a month ago, there was this reeeeeeeally bad gastrointestinal virus going around one of the sorority houses, and they just sent an email out this morning saying it hit ross and schwitzer residence halls .... cross fingers it doesnt get to resco! last time we had a news van parked across from the theta house for a week haha.
well geez i dont even know what i did and didnt remember to tell you .... i signed up for enough credit hours to count as full time now, thats a very good thing .... i'll be taking Contemporary Moral Issues (its a required class) and libby's in my section yaaaaaaay!
we signed the lease for the house on tuesday i think.... so i had to put down $400 for the deposit. i'm not sure exactly what rent is going to come to, but somewhere around $300 a month is a good guess. i hope to walk over and take some pictures of it before thanksgiving break so you can at least see what i've got myself into.
i also took $100 out of the tuition account to buy me some work clothes .... i got a shirt and some pants ... 'cause otherwise i'd only have one shirt and one pair of pants that would match what we have to wear. and they definitely get dirty, so wearing them more than once is a little disgusting, and i really dont want to spend $2 on a load of laundry with two things in it every time i work. anyway the clothes didnt cost the full hundred dollars, but with the rest of it i bought laundry quarters and a little food and bathroom stuff i was out of. (the other day i COMPLETELY ran out contact solution .... i had to throw away the ones i was wearing 'cause not ONE of my suitemates wears contacts grrr) i think i still have some of it left over (the money that is) and i'll probalby give it to maggie for gas
and that brings me to thanksgiving! maggie is still bringing me home, and the plan is to have emily from davenport take me back to butler, although for that to work i'd need someone to take me to davenport. anyway, i thought about driving home myself, but maggie really wanted to come see butler, esp. since this was the only weekend she could make it, and i figure anything to save my poor quickly-aging car a 400 mile trip, is a good thing. its not that there's anything wrong with my car, everything works, it just kind of makes old man noises, as i like to put it.
as for getting around town, i guess i work three days, and emily rod's having a mary kay party, but other than that i'm not sure what else i have to do thats planned. i want to see my friends of course, but i remember last year i felt like i didnt spend enough time at home, and this will pretty much solve that problem. i figure, we've got a pool table, they can come to us!
oh i s'pose this letter's getting long enough, and i really should go eat lunch before dinosaur class (that class always makes me sooo hungry) i'll say everything else real quick. i dont have a busy week ahead, the only big thing i had due this week was my final speech for speech class, and i did it yesterday. i get to work wednesday and friday (i've been promised 20 hours a week normal weeks) (which is good 'cause i need money and i really enjoy working). maggie is coming friday after her last class but she'll get here after i'm off of work. we'll leave the dorm saturday morning for iowaaaaaa (we have to leave by noon, which is when the locks are changed). since i dont have a lot to do this week, expect a phone call later to cover anything i missed in this extensive email.
miss you all!
love
andrea
